Notifications

Rota changes, shift reminders, holiday decisions, cover offers and messages — in one feed, with push alerts to your phone so nothing important gets missed.

The bell in the header opens your notifications — one feed of everything that’s happened, newest first: a rota published, a shift changed, a holiday decision, a cover offer, a message. Turn on push and these reach your phone even when the app is closed.

Your feed: an unread count up top, then each update with an icon, what happened and when — tap through to the right screen.

Reading the feed

When you’ve got unread notifications, a card at the top shows how many are new, with a Mark all read button. Each item below has an icon for its type, a title and a line of detail, the time it happened, and a dot while it’s unread.

Tap an item
Marks it read and takes you straight to the right place — a rota change to your rota, a holiday decision to Holiday, a cover offer to Cover, a message to the conversation.
Mark all read
Clears every unread dot at once.
Unread dot
A small marker stays until you open the item or mark all read — so you never lose track of what changed while you were away.

What you’ll be notified about

Rota published & shift changes
When your week goes live, a shift you’re on changes, or a reminder that a shift is coming up.
Open shifts & cover
A shift posted for anyone to pick up, and updates on cover or swap requests you’re part of.
Holiday decisions
When a request you made is approved or declined.
Clock-out reminders
A nudge if you look to have forgotten to clock out.
Timesheet edits
When a manager corrects one of your shifts — so a change to your hours is never silent.
Messages & mentions
A new message, or someone @-mentioning you in a channel.
Document reminders
If a document your workplace holds for you is due to expire.

Turn on push

A card on this screen (and on Home) offers to turn on push notifications. Tap Enable and allow it when your phone asks — then rota changes and reminders reach you the moment they happen, even with the app shut.

On iPhone
Push works once WagePilot is added to your home screen — install it first (see The staff app).
If it’s blocked
If you tapped “don’t allow”, turn notifications back on for WagePilot in your phone’s browser or app settings.

Common questions

Why aren’t my notifications reaching my phone?
You need push switched on. Tap Enable on the notifications card and allow it when prompted. On iPhone, push only works once WagePilot is installed to your home screen, so add it first. If you previously blocked it, re-enable notifications for WagePilot in your phone’s settings.
Do notifications disappear when I open the screen?
No — they stay marked as new until you open an item or tap “Mark all read”. That’s deliberate, so a quick glance doesn’t wipe the record of what changed while you were away.
Where does tapping a notification take me?
Straight to the relevant screen — a rota change opens your rota, a holiday decision opens Holiday, a cover offer opens Cover, and a message opens that conversation. It’s marked read as you open it.
