Getting started

The first-run setup wizard

The short guided setup you see the first time you sign in as the owner: your site, pay rate, team, clock-in, how your team works and a test shift.

The first time the account owner signs in, WagePilot opens a full-screen setup wizard instead of the dashboard. It asks only for what you need before anyone can clock in, one step at a time. On a computer the steps are listed down the left with a running Set up so far summary; on a phone you see Step x of y and a progress bar.

The steps

Your site
Add your first site: a name (for example "Riverside site") and its address, with a map pin you can drag to the exact entrance. Cannot be skipped.
Pay
Your default hourly rate, with a minimum-wage hint beside it. Cannot be skipped.
Your team
Add one person by name and email. WagePilot emails them a join code, then shows the code with WhatsApp, Text and copy buttons so you can send it the way you already message your team. Add the rest of the team opens the spreadsheet import. Can be skipped.
Clocking in
Confirm the site address so the clock-in radius sits on your site. Can be skipped.
How you work
Choose Scheduled shifts (you plan the week in advance) or Open clock-in (no rota, people clock in when they start). Cannot be skipped, because it decides what your staff see when they open the app. You can change it later in Settings.
Try a shift
Run a test shift puts a 4-hour shift for your first team member through the real pay calculation, shows the hours and estimated gross pay, then removes it again so nothing is left on your timesheets. You can also Make the poster: the QR sign-in flyer for your site. Can be skipped.
Ready
A short summary of what happens next, with Go to my dashboard and, in Scheduled shifts mode, Build this week's rota.

Common questions

Can I go back to the setup wizard later?
Once you finish it, WagePilot takes you to the dashboard from then on. Everything it set up can be changed later: sites in Locations, pay in Pay & overtime, people in People and the operating mode in Settings. The Get set up checklist on the dashboard tracks whatever is still left.
Does the test shift affect my records or bill?
No. It runs one shift through the same pay calculation your real shifts use, shows you the result, and then deletes it, so nothing stays on your timesheets or exports.
